Tragic loss of life

The victim of this devastating incident has been identified as a 64-year-old male from Kuna, Idaho. He was behind the wheel of a 2021 Freightliner semi, towing a single trailer, as he was driving westbound on Interstate 84. Tragically, the semi veered off course, colliding with the guardrail before overturning and ultimately coming to a rest in the canal on the north side of the interstate.

Despite the swift response of emergency services, the driver died as a result of his injuries at the scene of the accident.

Traffic on I-84 will be impacted by the accident

Following the accident, several critical measures were put in place to manage the situation. The right lane of Interstate 84 was blocked to facilitate Idaho Transportation Department personnel, who worked to repair the damaged bridge. We don’t have an estimate as to when the lane will be reopened for travel.

Road closures adjacent to the fatal accident

Additionally, the frontage road in the vicinity has been temporarily blocked to make way for emergency services and the process of recovering the overturned semi.

The Idaho State Police is continuing to investigate the crash and more information will be provided when the investigation is concluded.

This accident is one of many that have happened in the Twin Falls area over the last several weeks.

Magic Valley 911 Memorial - Flag Walk 2023

Several hundred people gathered at the Twin Falls Visitors Center on September 10, 2023 to watch the American Flag being carried by a group of 911 Memorial committee members and volunteers, in memory of the fallen. As impressive as the flag is, it's small relative to the flag that will fly across the Snake River Canyon on September 11.
