I've always thought that Idaho's cost of living seemed to be reasonable when compared to other states but exactly where does Idaho fall when compared to other states?

A study by MoneyRates took a look at things like wages, cost of living and unemployment to help determine some of the best places to make a living.

With an average income of $39,770, most states outperform Idaho when it comes to wages. But on the bright side, Idaho is among the top three states with the lowest cost of living. So we're not perfect, but when you compare our cost of living, wages and unemployment rates, Idaho winds up in the middle(ish) as the 23rd best place to make a living.

It's worth noting that Utah came in at number ten. Utah might have done better but Utah has one of the largest unemployment rates in the country.  And I find it interesting that none of the states in the top three have a state income tax. Texas, Washington and Wyoming were listed as the best places to make a living in 2015 and none of those states have a state income tax.
