Major Convenience Store in California to Close Over 1000 Stores Next Year
The last few years have not been kind to many once-popular businesses that ran the country. Restaurant chains, grocery stores, clothing stores, and many companies have closed locations nationwide in the last few years, and some have closed entirely altogether. This trend does not appear to be slowing down, and if anything 2025 could see more major companies close locations across the country and go out of business. One popular convenience store chain has announced it will be closing many locations next year, and California will be hit significantly.
Shell Closing Over 1000 Locations
Many chains are continuing to close locations nation wide, and another company has joined that list. Shell Gas Stations have announced that they will be closing over 1000 stores in 2025. Once the largest oil and gas company in the world, Shell has announced that they will be closing stores nationwide throughout next year due to shifting their focus to provide more electric vehicle charging stations. With closing over 1000 stores, Shell will be busy installing 70,000 charging stations during the same time frame. Many states will feel the impact of these closures, and California is not exempt.
Shell Gas Stations Closing in California
The state that will be hit the most will be Texas, with the Houston area expected to see a major impact, with the Shell offices being located there. With California having a decent amount of Shell stations there will be a handful that close, but which locations have yet to be announced. Don't be surprised if the station you commonly drive by or use closes unexpectedly next year, forcing you to find a new gas station to use. Time will tell if these changes from gas and oil to a more electric focus will lead to more closures, or if the closures will be done after the current wave.
With many Californians having already transitioned from gas-run vehicles to electric vehicles, this news may be encouraging. What is bad news to many, could also be good news for others, as it will offer more charging stations nationwide and throughout the Golden State. Many will sadly lose their jobs, and, unfortunately, another company is closing a mass number of locations. Time will tell what the future holds for Shell moving forward.
