Fall is the time of year for changing colors and changing scents. From cinnamon and spiced apple to maple and aromatic leaves, many people head to the specialty stores in September and October to stash away candles to keep their homes smelling nice through the holidays and into spring.

When it comes to fall scents, muddy cleats, parking-lot barbecue, and log fires are among my favorites. One scent, in particular, has become a staple in the fall and winter months, and people will endure long lines to both smell and taste it this time of year.

Idaho is a state known for its outdoor recreation. If it smells like nature, most Idahoans are drawn to it.

A Survey Has Revealed Idaho's Favorite Candle Scent

One could argue that pumpkins are a symbol of fall. They are grown for decoration and are ingredients in many dishes, most notably pies. Certain coffee chains have made bank off infusing these flavors into warm beverages that many humans go absolutely berserk over once October arrives.

It's been a spell since a credible, national survey involving scented candles in the United States was taken. Last time this data was gathered, Idaho made it clear that pumpkin tops the list of favorite candle smells, according to Shane Co.
