Celebrate October Arrival With National Pumpkin Spice Day
Coffee fiends all across the United States are gearing up for perhaps the most exciting day of the year. With the arrival of October this weekend also comes National Pumpkin Spice Day.
I used to be a major coffee drinker back in the day. I couldn't function unless I had at least three cups before seven o'clock in the morning. A six-year run of co-hosting a morning show and hearing my alarm clock go off at 4 A.M. made me reliant on caffeine.
I've since switched to decaf coffee because I've started doing things like paying closer attention to my blood pressure. My daughter is a barista in Washington State, and she gives me a lot of grief over bailing on caffeinated coffee. As far as flavored coffee is concerned, I do enjoy some hazelnut creamer, but that's about as crazy as I get. My wife gets really juiced up when October approaches for two main reasons.
October means pumpkin spice coffee and Halloween. October 1 (Saturday) is National Pumpkin Spice Day. Pumpkin spice is the flavor of October for many coffee connoisseurs, and the drive-thrus at numerous coffee businesses in Twin Falls will no doubt be packed this weekend.
For those that want to avoid heading out Saturday to ride out long lines, pumpkin spice coffee drinks are incredibly easy to make at home. There are recipes all over the Internet. Thursday (September 29) is also National Coffee Day and many businesses will be offering deals to celebrate America's favorite bean.
