Drunk Idaho Man Rear-Ends Cop in Drive-Thru
This guy celebrated his birthday a little too hard and then was craving some tacos. His poor decisions led to a drinking charge. According to Idaho State Journal, there was an interesting situation at a Taco Bell in Pocatello. An Idaho State Police patrol officer was in a State Police SUV grabbing some grub in the drive-thru at the Yellowstone Avenue Taco Bell. The Police officer was minding his own business in the drive through when... BUMP... He got rear-ended.
The pickup truck behind him was being driven by Gavin Scott Smith who was celebrating his 28th birthday, clearly a little too much. Gavin had been drinking and was clearly hungry and craving Taco Bell. It is never ok to drink and drive and for Gavin he definitely picked the wrong place to grab a bite to eat that night. This all happened at about 10pm on Wednesday night.
According to police, Gavin was really partying too much, especially to be driving. His blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he rear-ended the State Troopers SUV. Gavin got a birthday present from police. They gave him a misdemeanor drunk driving charge. He should consider himself lucky that they night didn't end up worse with how over the limit he was.
While yes, there is a little humor to the situation in this particular incident; It is never ok to drink and drive, not only are you putting yourself at risk but other innocent people. Boise is the 8th worst city for DUI's, you can read more about that here.
