Halloween has recently happened, and it is so recent that many still have zombies, skeletons, and holiday decorations in their yard. The next major holiday on the calendar is Thanksgiving, and many will keep out their fall decorations and begin thinking about the meal and what they get to eat. While Christmas awaits in December, it is still nearly two months away, yet you wouldn't know it the way stores and others are acting. Is Christmas being forced down our throats in Idaho, and is it happening earlier this year than normal?

Stores have been rolling out Christmas decorations, lights, and gift ideas for over a month now, if not longer, and now you are seeing homes begin to decorate for the holiday and get ready for the season. While it is one thing to decorate while the weather is nice, it is different to be turning on the decorations, the lights, and hearing Christmas music this early in November. Halloween was shoved to the side in mid-October to make room for Christmas in many stores across Idaho, and now stores are fully dedicating themselves to the holiday and forcing it in front of everyone. Christmas movies have begun playing already, and it seems like Christmas is happening earlier this year by the way people are acting.

If you didn't know better, you may think Christmas is happening on November 25 this year instead of December. With how many people are getting into the spirit already, it is confusing for many. Some companies are planning Christmas parties already, despite it still being in the 60s on some days, compared to the typical Christmas Day weather in the 40s or below. No, Christmas is not early this year and will be taking place the same time it does every year, but it is being forced down everyone's throats this year before turkeys are even being bought for Thanksgiving. It is ok to start shopping and putting up outdoor decorations, but the rest of it is too much and will make the holiday season feel longer than ever this year.

Don't feel pressured or rushed to get your Christmas decorations out, to start wearing your ugly Christmas sweaters, or to be singing Christmas carols. There is plenty of time until Christmas, and despite what stores, television, radio stations, and everyone else want you to believe, you don't have to get into the spirit yet. That day is coming at the end of the month.
