Loaded Pistol Found In Carry-On At Boise Airport: Latest Update
According to The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Boise Airport (BOI) has set a new record, discovering 43 firearms in carry-on luggage so far in 2024. This surpasses the previous record of 42 firearms found in 2023.
A recent incident occurred on Monday, October 21, 2024, when TSA officers identified a loaded Taurus G3c pistol during routine X-ray screening. The firearm, packed with 10 rounds of ammunition, was found in the carry-on bag of a traveler heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. In addition to the loaded gun, the traveler had an extra magazine containing 10 more rounds.

What Happens When TSA Discovers an Undeclared Firearm in Idaho
Once a firearm is identified on the X-ray screen, TSA immediately alerts airport law enforcement, who remove the weapon and handle the situation. The outcome for the traveler depends on the law enforcement agency’s discretion, ranging from confiscation of the firearm to potential criminal charges.
Travelers caught with firearms in their carry-on luggage face significant penalties. TSA may impose a civil fine of up to $14,950, and even first-time offenders can lose their Trusted Traveler status and TSA PreCheck® privileges.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding firearm transport regulations and the severe consequences of non-compliance.
Legally Flying with Firearms: What You Need to Know
