How Adults Are Secretly Talking to Kids in Idaho, WA, and UT

Being a parent is tough. There is so much to worry about day-to-day and things to do. You have to ensure they are safe, fed, get enough sleep, and take care of them when they are sick. There appear to be far too many pedophiles these days, and despite how spread out residents are in places like Idaho, and how religious Utah is, they still are in the area. While some are obvious about their contact with children, others have found ways to get near your children without you knowing, and are doing it right in front of you. Many children enjoy playing video games and use headsets to talk to their friends while playing, but the problem is, sometimes it isn't their friends from school that they are playing with. Pedophiles have been known to use these games to talk to children to gain their trust and build a relationship with them, and it could be happening with your kids if you aren't paying attention.

Recently in Phoenix, a man was arrested for using the game Fortnite to talk to children under the age of eleven. He established a relationship with them and began sending them graphic videos and images. Luckily, the parents of one of the children were able to catch on to what was happening and he was caught. This is not the only person that is doing this though, and there is a chance that if you are not paying attention to who your children are talking to when they are gaming, they too could find themselves in this situation. If your child is talking to anyone that they do not know in real life, it is wise to look into it.

If your child is someone that games with a headset on, especially games where they meet other people, make sure to take time to ask them who they play with and how they know the individuals. If it is not a name you recognize, then perhaps it is someone they shouldn't be playing with.
