I remember hearing back in the day that when one child would get the chicken pox a parent would try to get all the kids in the family sick with a 'chicken pox party' so they would get it all over with at once. Now some anti vaccine parents are throwing 'Measles Parties' to build antibodies in their non-vaccinated kids. The problem with this compared to chicken pox is that measles can kill a child!

As should be expected doctors are advising against measles parties. Measles is one of the most contagious diseasesThe U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention say, “Measles can be serious, especially for children younger than 5 years old. It can lead to pneumonia, encephalitis (swelling of the brain), and death.”

Would you inflict this on your kid rather than get them a vaccine?

According to the Pediatrics Journal, before the measles vaccine in 1963, every year saw 500 measles deaths, 48,000 hospitalizations and four million measles cases altogether. Those who are infected are contagious four days before symptoms and four days after signs of the rash.
