A pair of accidents on Idaho highways over the weekend sent a total of 9 individuals to local hospitals.
Crash on I-15 Near Pocatello Sends Six to the Hospital
A crash on Interstate 15 south of Pocatello sent six individuals to the hospital on Friday, January 24, 2025. The Idaho State Police (ISP) reported that the crash occurred at 1:59 p.m. at milepost 65.
A 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 48-year-old woman from Lava Hot Springs, rear-ended a 2018 Ford F-150. The Ford was driven by a 60-year-old woman from Soda Springs with a 72-year-old passenger. The collision occurred as traffic was being diverted into a single lane due to an earlier crash.
All 6 Individuals Sent to Local Hospital
Both vehicles went off the road following the collision. The Equinox overturned before coming to a stop. While all occupants were wearing seat belts, the Ford’s passenger was not. Emergency responders transported all individuals involved to a local hospital via ground ambulance.
Investigation and Assistance
The Idaho State Police was assisted on the scene by Pocatello EMS. The crash remains under investigation by ISP.
Early Morning Crash Near New Plymouth Hospitalizes Three
A two-vehicle crash near New Plymouth on Interstate 84 resulted in three hospitalizations on Saturday, January 26, 2025. The crash occurred at 5:15 a.m. at milepost 13.
An 18-year-old woman from Rexburg was driving a 2020 Kia Soul westbound on I-84 when the vehicle struck the median barrier. The Kia re-entered traffic and was struck by a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 52-year-old woman from Middleton.
Crash Aftermath
The impact caused both vehicles to overturn, coming to rest on their tops in the westbound lanes. All occupants involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
The driver and passenger of the Kia were transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance.
Road Closure and Investigation
The crash led to the closure of both westbound lanes of Interstate 84 for approximately five and a half hours. ISP is continuing its investigation.
