Watch 5 Idaho Athletes Compete For Gold In Beijing
The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing is underway. Even if you aren't a big fan of watching the Olympics, you may want to watch and root for the six Idahoans competing for gold. They are from all over the area and we can't wait to see how they do.
Competing with the U.S. Women's hockey team, Hilary Knight is representing Idaho. She is a forward on the team. The United States women lost to Canada on February 7th and will be competing in the playoff quarterfinals on Thursday, February 10th at 9 pm. The United States has already beaten Finland, Russia, and Switzerland.
Competing in the Skeleton, Andrew Blaser is from Meridian. The Skeleton is a crazy event where the athlete luges head first. They can reach over 80 miles per hour. Even crazier, it is technically the slowest of all the sled sports. They will start on February 10th.
From McCall, Caitlin Patterson will represent Idaho and team the U.S.A in the women's Cross-Country ski events. This is her second Olympic game. She will be competing in the 30-km Freestyle
Scott Patterson is also from McCall and Caitlin Patterson's brother. He finishes 11th in the 30km Skiathlon. That is the best ever U.S. men's skiathlon result! Congratulations
Chase Josey is from Hailey and he will compete on the snowboard team. This is his second Olympic game. He will be competing in the halfpipe. The qualifying rounds continue Wednesday, February 9th. Good luck to him!
There were a few athletes from Idaho that were on track to compete but injury prevented them.
