Twin Falls SWAT Standoff Ends Peacefully; Suspect Identified and Charged
TWIN FALLS, Idaho – A domestic disturbance early on New Year's Day escalated into a SWAT standoff in Twin Falls, ending with the peaceful apprehension of a suspect now facing multiple felony charges.
Incident Overview
On January 1, 2025, at approximately 5:56 a.m., Twin Falls Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Polk Street. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 50-year-old Tyrone Grigg, holding a firearm.
Officers quickly secured the area, surrounded the residence, and worked to contain the situation. At approximately 8:30 a.m., gunshots were heard from inside the home. No officers discharged their firearms, and no injuries were reported.
The Twin Falls Police Department and the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office deployed SWAT teams and crisis negotiators to the scene.
Peaceful Resolution
After several hours of negotiation, Grigg was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities commended the patience and cooperation of nearby residents during the response.
Suspect Charged
Grigg was booked into the Twin Falls County Jail on felony charges, including second-degree kidnapping and three counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement. The Twin Falls Police Department issued a statement and a reminder that Grigg is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
