SWAT Standoff on Polk Street Ends Peacefully in Twin Falls

TWIN FALLS, Idaho – A domestic disturbance early on New Year's Day prompted a significant police response in Twin Falls, ending with the peaceful resolution of a SWAT standoff.

Incident Overview - Gunshots Fired Inside Home

At approximately 5:56 a.m. on January 1, 2025, Twin Falls Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Polk Street. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect holding a firearm. Officers quickly secured the area, surrounded the residence, and contained the situation.

By 8:30 a.m., gunshots were heard from inside the home, although no officers discharged their firearms, and no injuries were reported.

The Twin Falls Police Department, assisted by the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office SWAT teams and crisis negotiators, worked to resolve the situation.

Peaceful Resolution - Arrest Made Without Further Incident

Following hours of negotiation, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities expressed gratitude to the community for their patience and cooperation during the response.

While the suspect's identity and charges have not yet been released, law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Some roads in the area remain closed as the investigation progresses.
