Something You Do Daily Could Get You Arrested in ID

Many people will go their entire lives without ever being arrested, but some get to experience it, and some more so than others. There are many different ways to break the law and get arrested. Some do terrible crimes such as rape a person or murder them, others do less harm but bad things like stealing a car or robbing somebody, and then there are minor situations that occur that someone can get you charged for. Many of the reasons someone gets arrested make sense, but from time to time there will be a bizarre situation where someone gets arrested for a dumb reason. Man Gets Arrested for Farting on a Cop

I recently came across a story from years ago about a man in West Virginia that was charged with battery after farting and waving it toward a police officer. The man was initially stopped for driving without his headlights on, which turned into him being handcuffed after he failed a field sobriety test. In the process of all of this, the man passed gas and decided to wave it towards the police officer, adding the charge of battery to his other charges that night. It may seem like a funny and natural occurrence, but the cop viewed it differently. The charge was eventually dropped, but it got me thinking, could you be arrested for farting on a cop in Idaho? 

Can You Get Arrested for Farting in Idaho?

After reading the story above, I reached out to a local police officer to see what would happen if someone did this to him while on duty. He let me know that if someone passed gas in his presence, they would not be arrested or charged, as it is a natural occurrence, although he did admit he may laugh. What would get someone in trouble with an officer though is if you decided to do so in their face, push their head into the area, or touch the officer to put them near the smell. Once hands have landed on the officer, the situation changes, and then the cop would be able to charge you for battery.

It seems bizarre, but farting could get you arrested, depending on the actions that follow.
