Businesses in the Gem State Are Stealing From You Without You Knowing
Shopping and eating out have gotten expensive, and it seems that it is becoming more and more unaffordable. It used to be simple to go through a drive-thru to pick up dinner or to get a child a kid's meal, but now it is so expensive, that it isn't as simple of an option as it used to be. Part of the reason for the high costs of everything is production has gone up, but also because places have been stealing from customers, without many realizing it. How are these places getting more money out of everyone, and is what they are doing legal?
Idaho Stores and Restaurants Getting Extra Money From Customers
Many places around the Gem State are quietly getting more and more of your money, and doing so right in front of you. When you go to a restaurant or to pick up food, being asked to add a tip is common, and somewhat expected, but it is beginning to pop up at places like the movie theatre, retail stores, or even ice cream shops. Many come from a culture where tips are to be earned, but these places not only are expecting tips, but adding them to their normal checkout routine. Most customers are in such a rush, that they may not realize it and may hit the lowest amount and be tipping. It may not sound like much when it is only a few dollars, but over time it adds up and you spend more than you realize.
Every Place Wants Tips in Idaho
Recently, when at an ice cream parlor, I was checking out and when making my purchase, the machine default asked for a tip, with the lowest option being 15 percent. There was an option to choose 'other' and decide to do zero percent or a lower number, but this isn't the only place this has occurred. This is becoming common practice at many places, and when in a rush, it is easy to skip through this process, not realizing that you are giving away money that has nothing to do with your purchased items or little to no customer service.

Slow down when checking out at stores and avoid giving away your hard-earned money. Hit' other' and choose zero if you feel a tip is not appropriate or deserved. You may have lost a good amount of money without knowing it, but going forward, save those valuable pennies and dollars.
