Idaho is home to some delicious fresh food. While most think of potatoes when they think of Idaho, there is also fresh dairy from the many dairies in the area, fresh fish, as Buhl is the trout capital of the world, and also fresh elk that you can often find roaming the lands of Idaho. While it isn't hard to find fresh food in Idaho, one of the best is the fruit that you can get in the Gem State. There are many orchards spread across Idaho, and picking fresh fruit is something everyone should experience. Where is the best place to get fresh fruit in Idaho, and what kind can you pick and when?

When it comes to picking fresh fruit, there are many hidden gems to find around Idaho, but one of, if not the best, has to be Kelley's Canyon Orchard, located between Buhl and Filer located at 1903 River Road, Filer, ID 83328. They offer a variety of fruit throughout the year, and currently, you can pick fresh cherries. As the summer goes along into fall, you will also be able to pick apricots, watermelons, peaches, plums, apples, and pears. Besides fresh fruit, they also have local honey from bees that help pollinate the orchard, homemade jams, as well as candles that are made locally. Kelley's Canyon Orchard has been around for a while and is as Idaho as an orchard can get for those that like to shop and support local.

Kelley's Canyon Orchard has been around for 117 years and is open to the public right now, Wednesdays through Sundays from 9 AM to 6 PM. For those who are unable to get out to the orchard but want fresh fruit, they deliver to Twin Falls every Thursday, and you can order online by clicking this link, although you will miss the fun of picking your fruit. For those who want to go out and pick fresh fruit, it is a $1 entry fee, and then, depending on what fruits you are picking, the price may vary. This is a great year to go, because it is only their second full crop since 2017. If you want to stay a night down in the canyon at the orchard, or want to rent a big home for a family reunion or some fun, there are also two houses on the property you can stay at, which you can learn more about at this link.
