Idaho State Police say one person is dead after a crash that happened Sunday morning west of Jerome.

Police said the crash happened between N 300 W and N 400 W at 5:39 a.m.

22-year-old Miguel A. Molina Rodriguez from Jerome was driving a pickup eastbound on West Road when he crossed the center line and hit a Mazda car head-on. The Mazda was driven by 42-year-old Luis Fernando Ibarra Armenta, from Mexico.

Ibarra Armenta died at the scene from his injuries in the crash. Molina Rodriguez was taken by life-flight to the Portneuf Medical Center in Jerome.

The crash caused the road to be closed for nearly four hours.

State police were helped at the scene by the Gooding County Sheriff's Office, Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Jerome Rural Fire Department, Magic Valley Paramedics, and Air St. Luke's.

Idaho State Police say they're still investigating the crash.
