I live by text messages. I would much rather text someone than call. But since I upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPhone 5, texting via iMessage has been a nightmare.

And it's not just me. Several people in the office, including tech guru Brad, are also having issues with iMessage. Good news: we're not holding it wrong, it turns out there's a bug in iMessages that Apple is aware of and are working on a fix.

The only solution I've found that works consistently is to hard boot my iPhone (wake + home button until the device reboots).

I've read other troubleshooting tips that call for either turning off iMessage (which will cost you text messages) or rebooting your Network Settings (which will wipe out all saved Wi-Fi passwords). I really don't want to do either.

From Apple:

"We are aware of an issue that affects a fraction of a percent of our iMessage users, and we will have a fix available in an upcoming software update. In the meantime, we encourage any users having problems to reference our troubleshooting documents or contact AppleCare to help resolve their issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes impacted users."

Here's hoping Apple releases a fix soon. Has the iMessages bug bit you yet?
