UPDATED:
WELLS, Nevada(KLIX)-Authorities in Elko County say a man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 between Jackpot and Wells, Nevada. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the Sept. 27, five-vehicle crash killed a 70-year-old Troy, Illinois man and severely injured his passenger about 30 miles north of Wells. The two had been in a Chrysler Pacifica when it was struck from behind by a box truck. Both lanes of travel were blocked for most of the day. Eventually, motorists were able to get through the area through a single, alternating lane. The road fully opened at a little after 6 p.m., according to NHP.

NHP said four cars had been stopped by a flagger in a construction zone when the rental box truck crashed into the back of the stopped cars, pushing one into the other. The driver of the box truck is suspected of being impaired and inattentive.
