Miranda Lambert Debuts New ‘Country Punk-Rock’ Song ‘Locomotive’ at CMA Fest 2019 [WATCH]
Country powerhouse Miranda Lambert debuted a brand-new song, "Locomotive," during her Saturday evening (June 8) CMA Fest 2019 performance at Nissan Stadium. As she introduced the song, Lambert explained to the crowd that it was her first time ever trying out the new track live.
The singer tore through a fiery, hard-chugging rendition of the track, a bold declaration of not caring much what the world thinks about you -- especially not with a good man who "gives me wings," as the song's chorus goes. "'Cause I'm sweet tea sippin' / On my front porch sittin' / While my hubby fries chicken ..."
Before taking the stage, Lambert told the Tennessean that the new song was the perfect addition to a high-energy CMA Fest set. "I chose it for CMA Fest because it's total country punk-rock," she explained. "It's just fun. It really is a reflection of who I am right now ... you'll know when you hear it."
The country superstar performed at the stadium as part of a stacked Saturday night bill that also included Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Billy Ray Cyrus and a surprise performance of "Old Town Road" from Lil Nas X and Keith Urban. In addition to performing fan favorites such as "Kerosene" and "White Liar" onstage, Lambert also performed with her trio, the Pistol Annies, alongside bandmates Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley.
CMA Fest 2019 runs through Sunday (June 9). A TV special, hosted by performers Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini, will feature musical highlights from the event and will air in early August.
