BOISE COUNTY, Idaho (KLIX) -- An Eagle man who went missing on a hunting trip north of Idaho City was found safe Thursday afternoon.

Family of 59-year old Arlen Dowdy waited anxiously at the Pilot Peak area once they heard he had been located approximately four miles from where he left off. Dowdy was in good condition surviving off insects, although he was dehydrated and weak. Temperatures dipped into the 30's overnight in Boise County. The family tells KTVB that Dowdy had gotten into a motorcycle crash years ago and lost his left leg.

Sometimes he suffers seizures and needs medication.Dowdy was without his medication while he was missing.Search crews with Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue worked tirelessly to look for Dowdy with the help of human trackers and dogs.
