When Nintendo announced the upcoming 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, fans were overjoyed. Majora's Mask has long been considered something of a hidden gem in the series, delving into darker themes while maintaining that core Zelda brilliance, and with its upcoming 3DS remake, players who never had the chance to repeatedly stop the apocalypse will get to do so. In a recent interview with series producer Eiji Aonuma, he revealed that this won't just be a direct port of the Nintendo 64 game, but will come packed with a few surprises.

Outside of hinting that the game would be different for players using the new 3DS rather than the current model, Aonuma stayed fairly tight-lipped about the ordeal, saying, "Please wait for the opportunity to discuss how playing on the New 3DS differs at a later date." He then went on to address Majora's Mask's ease of access for new players. "Parts that were conventions and weren't explained at all are changed, and challenges which you realize by repeating many times are made easier to understand." After a bit more pressing for details, he finally relented and confirmed that at least one boss battle will be altered for this new release, and there will be miscellaneous changes to the experience such as the expansion of the fishing mini-game.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is slated for a Spring 2015 release date on the Nintendo 3DS.
