One Big Negative of Living in Twin Falls Right Now

While living in Twin Falls can be great, like anywhere, it has many flaws as well. There is often not as much to do as residents would like, the snow can be too much for some, the winters are long, and the smells can be a little much depending on how the wind is blowing that day. None of these complaints are new to anyone who has lived here for a significant amount of time, but lately, there has been another issue that has come up, that is a major negative to living in Twin Falls. 

Negative Part of Living in Twin Falls, Idaho

Many will agree that there are many shopping and eating options in Twin Falls. While there might be some options that residents wish were available, overall there is a variety to enjoy. Lately in the news, many major companies have been filing for bankruptcy, and while some are closing entirely, others are shutting down locations in an attempt to stay afloat. While restaurants, fast food chains, and shopping stores are closing, Twin Falls is at a disadvantage. If you live in a major city or in an area where there are multiple locations of a certain business, then losing one or two may not be a major deal, but in Twin Falls the loss of Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, or Walmart would be major hits to the area. 

Negative Side of Living in a Small Town

In the last couple of years, Twin Falls has seen some major chains leave the area, such as Popeyes, Bed Bath and Beyond, and most recently, MOD Pizza. Living in a town the size of Twin Falls means there is one of most businesses. One of the few that could survive losing a location is McDonald's, but even losing one location would still feel like a blow to the Magic Valley. The hope is that many places in Twin Falls do well because they are the only location, but if one place underperforms, it could be the end of that company in the Magic Valley, forcing residents to drive to Boise or Salt Lake City for the nearest one.

While more and more businesses are continuing to close locations across the country, residents in the Magic Valley will sit and wait and hope that our locations are safe. There are certain stores and restaurants that nobody in the area wants to see go away. The good news is, that not many have closed, but how long until one of your favorites is next?
