Lead Found in Protein Shakes in Idaho
Drinking a protein shake to start your day is a great way to diet. It can give you energy, provide the protein you need in your diet, and help you resist the temptation to eat other types of food on the go. While many drink protein drinks every day, are you aware of what is in them? According to a recent report, there are apparently high levels of lead in these powders, which can be concerning if you consume too much. More and more people are drinking protein shakes as they hit the gym, diet, and try to be healthier, but the high level of toxic metals in the powder could be causing more harm than good. During a recent study, more than two-thirds of the protein powders that were tested contained more lead than experts say is safe to consume. Some even had more than 10 times the amount of what would be considered safe, which clearly isn't good.
Is Consuming Protein Shakes Bad in Idaho?
Obviously, tests are often ran, and the most concerning part is that the levels of lead have increased over the years, which were already high to begin with. This is putting you more at risk and could lead to high blood pressure, kidney damage, or reproductive issues. Experts are urging those who consume these products to cut back and, instead of consuming protein powder or shakes daily, perhaps limit it to once or twice a week to limit the amount of lead that is going into your body. There are other ways to add protein to your diet than consuming these products, and you have to ask yourself, is it worth the risk?
