It's been a spell since something fueled sequel rumors to the most famous film ever shot in the Gem State. So, this is interesting.

For fans of the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite, rumors that a sequel is coming has panned out to be just that, a rumor. In 2023, I remember hearing the Hollywood chatter about whether or not a sequel was coming for the 20th anniversary of the movie, which was filmed throughout the southeastern Idaho community of Preston.

Well, a recent development might be the best indication that another dynamite picture might actually be moving forward. Actor Jon Heder, who played the awkward, dorky lead character in the first film, was spotted this week having a bite in Pocatello.

Staff at Jakers Restaurant in the city, 115 miles east of Twin Falls, shared a couple of photographs of the actor posing with employees. Heder is a legend in Idaho for delivering such lines in the movie as, "I don't even have any good skills. You know, like nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills," and who can forget about, "I see you're drinking one percent. "

The social media site Screen Rant declared a sequel was "in the works" almost exactly one year ago. Those in the Preston community might want to keep their eyes open for production crews in town, because if there's one thing we know is certain about a possible second dynamite script, it's that Napoleon probably hasn't left his hometown, or the state of Idaho, for that matter.
