The southern Idaho family of a woman who went missing in February of 2022 is still seeking answers in a case that has gained national attention and been featured on multiple true crime shows currently available for streaming.

The missing woman still has family in Meridian, 12 miles west of Boise. The fourth anniversary of the disappearance is less than 12 weeks away. A Facebook page was established in her honor and currently has more than 4,000 active members.

Former Idaho Resident Irene Gakwa Went Missing In 2022 From Eastern Wyoming

On February 24, 2022, Irene Gakwa went missing from eastern Wyoming after reportedly moving there from Boise, Idaho, with her then-boyfriend. Gakwa attended school in southwestern Idaho after leaving her native land of Kenya, before leaving the state under suspicious circumstances, according to Cowboy State Daily.

Gillette, Wyoming, is 800 miles east of Boise, Idaho, where Irene Gakwa was enjoying living and attending school near relatives in the months leading up to her final days seen in the Gem State. Her former boyfriend, a person of interest, was charged with crimes involving the former Idaho student, but to date, he hasn't been identified as being directly linked to her disappearance, according to the Cowboy State Daily.

Gakwa's case caught the attention of true crime television producers for the Paramount Plus' Never Seen Again series. Her story was featured in season four, episode six, and is titled 'American Dream: American Nightmare.'
