Idaho Pink Floyd Fans Can You Believe 45 Years Since ‘The Wall?’
One of the greatest rock albums of all time is nearing its 45th release anniversary. A film would follow three years later that spawned a cult following and cemented the band as one of the world's most worshiped.
While I am a fan of Pink Floyd, if I were asked who's the greatest rock band to ever form, my answer would be Led Zeppelin, in a heartbeat. I was first introduced to Pink Floyd in high school, and one of my biggest concert regrets in life is that I've never seen them live. Tom Petty is another, and I'll unfortunately never get the opportunity.
I must have watched the movie 50 times in high school with friends, and completely sober with a clear mind on every occasion of course.
The Wall was released on November 30, 1979. I was riding a Big Wheel around my neighborhood at the time it dropped, so it would be another decade before I started to really appreciate the David Gilmour-led band. Gilmour is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
In 1982, the album-inspired motion picture came out and instantly captured audiences' attention for its hypnotic, partially animated, psychedelic rock-opera vibe. I must have watched the movie 50 times in high school with friends, and completely sober with a clear mind on every occasion of course.
Pink Floyd fans in Idaho need to dust off those vinyls or wipe down those CDs and celebrate the incredible group of musicians that founded the band in England in 1965. Have a Gigar if you want.
