Prom night is officially on the radar for students across America. For many, it's the most important night of the entire high school experience, and there are so many ways teens can potentially screw it up.

My prom night happened a long time ago. While my experience with my then-girlfriend was fantastic, the evening ended up having a dark cloud over it. It wasn't because I caught my junk in my zipper like Ben Stiller's character in the movie There's Something About Mary, but instead, it was the actions of a good friend of mine that made the night memorable for all the wrong reasons; it still gets brought up in conversation even to this day.

Doing things like attempting to smuggle in alcohol, overdoing it with makeup, getting terrible fake tans, and dressing inappropriately will result in a potentially embarrassing experience.

May is the month that most schools host prom nights in the United States. Many of you already have a date locked in, and some of you are still working up the courage to ask that person you're interested in. Golden ASP put together a pretty spot-on list of prom do's and don'ts that Idaho students should keep in mind.

Doing things like attempting to smuggle in alcohol, overdoing it with makeup, getting terrible fake tans, and dressing inappropriately will result in a potentially embarrassing experience. Many schools have banned things like dancing provocatively, so enjoying the night while following the rules is the best way to ensure you don't destroy your date's all-important night.

In case you're wondering what I was talking about earlier that ruined our prom night, it was the fact that my pal who accompanied my date's best friend to the dance got arrested for beating up a valet parker after he commented on how hot his date looked. Getting handcuffed and hauled away is also not recommended on prom night.
