Arizona Teen Dies After Trying 'Dusting' Viral Challenge

Times Entertainment is reporting that a 19-year-old Arizona girl has died after attempting the social media challenge known as 'dusting.' This involves inhaling fumes from compressed air such as the kind found in keyboard cleaners. The act is also known as Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome. The victim went into cardiac arrest and was never able to be revived.

Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome (SSDS) involves inhaling poisonous chemicals that can attack the central nervous system and can result in almost instantaneous stoppage of the heart. There are dozens of these types of Internet challenges that kids are discovering through websites like TikTok and YouTube.

Teenagers are particularly at risk for falling victims to these types of potentially fatal trends due to boredom and peer pressure, so parents need to discuss the importance of avoiding such dangerous activities.

Call 911 immediately if you ingest a poisonous chemical and need assistance. Please don't fall victim to online challenges that could prove fatal.
