A southern Idaho holiday food drive produced approximately 1,700 turkeys between November 20 and November 22.

Magic Valley residents stepped up big time last week for the annual Twin Falls '60 Hours to Fight Hunger,' a community effort to gather needed food items for southern Idaho residents who meet specific income eligibility requirements.

Two locations were manned with volunteers on Thursday, Friday, and until 9 P.M. Saturday to accept cash, food boxes, non-perishable food items, and turkeys from the community. Smith's Food and Drug on Addison Avenue, and Rob Green GMC on Blue Lakes Boulevard, were the two businesses that hosted food drives with hopes of collecting 2,400 turkeys, which would have been approximately 165 more than the 2024 event.

I met up with approximately a dozen volunteers on Saturday (November 22) at 1 P.M. at Rob Green GMC on Blue Lakes Boulevard to set up for a live remote. I was greeted by Roseanna Campbell, from South Central Community Action Partnership, who helps coordinate the food drive every year.

I spent two hours with the group and witnessed some incredible acts of generosity, including a local motorcycle club that passed through with a hefty load of food.

Roseanna reported Monday morning (November 24) during a phone call that 1,669 turkeys were collected during the two-day event, and that the cash donations were being counted, with the funds to be spent on more turkeys for needy families.

We would like to thank the southern Idaho community for its generosity during the 2025 60 Hours to Fight Hunger event.
