11,800 Idahoans Likely To Get Cancer Diagnosis in 2025, Data Says
Cancer cases have been steadily increasing over the past few years across the United States. By year's end, it's been estimated that Idaho will be hit with close to 700 more new cases than were documented in 2024.
New cancer cases are on the rise in the U.S., with a large percentage of those being discovered in people between the ages of 30 and 44, according to cancer.org. Nationwide, it's been estimated that on average more than 1,500 Americans will die from cancer each day, with Idaho projected to suffer close to 4,000 total deaths from various forms statewide by January 2026, according to cancer.org.
God bless those of you who are currently undergoing cancer treatments, like my wife's mother. I pray for remission for each and every one of you.

My mother-in-law, a longtime Twin Falls resident, turns 81 this month. Last December, she discovered a lump in her breast that grew very rapidly over the course of 10 weeks to the size of an egg. One week ago, she had a double mastectomy. She then learned three days after the surgery that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and received a stage three prognosis; she will undergo radiation and chemotherapy soon.
The total new cancer cases in Idaho are expected to increase in 2025 from roughly 11,100 to 11,800, according to cancer.org. The top three cancers in the U.S. for women are breast, lung, and colon, and for men it's prostate, lung, and colon, according to the data. Going in for pre-screenings and checkups does save lives.
