We all get upset at law enforcement every once in a while. It’s the nature of their jobs to maintain order and it’s the nature of all of us to be rebellious.

You may think you’re exempt, but you probably don’t always use your blinker and you probably go (at least) 39 in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on a daily basis.

Twin Falls Sheriff’s Office Claps Back at Angry Resident

I saw a post on the Magic Valley Rants and Raves page a day ago where someone was ranting. That’s what the page is for. But, that doesn’t mean your rant is valid, and that was definitely the case with this person. The person was upset that a Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office deputy was ‘sitting in the middle of poleline’ checking people’s speed on a Thursday afternoon.

The post was met with many comments, including quite a few sarcastically saying something along the lines of ‘how dare they do their job and keep the town safe?’ and others pointed out the reason the police watch for people who may be breaking the law.

Doing Their Job or Being Lazy? Idaho Police Explain Speed Traps

The post also caught the attention of the police, since they have nothing better to do than to scroll around on Facebook, and they felt the need to respond with their own social media post explaining the purpose of the police. In other words, they explained why they were doing their job.

These types of traffic stops have proven extremely effective in stopping crime. Many criminals, including drug dealers, have been caught due to these routine traffic stops.

So, there are a few takeaways here:

  • The police have a job to do and it isn’t always busting down doors and cuffing murderers. Sometimes it’s watching the roads to keep them safe.
  • The police have access to social media and know your name now - Malinda.

I’ll be honest, I’m glad the police have nothing better to do on a Thursday afternoon. A quiet day on the streets of Twin Falls sounds like a social win.
