A fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a box truck on Monday afternoon in Southern Idaho was reported by the Idaho State Police. The crash affected traffic in the area for around five hours.

The incident is being investigated by the Idaho State Police.

Idaho Fatality: Teenage Motorcycle Rider Dead Following Crash With Box Truck

The accident happened on Monday, April 6th, at 3:56 PM at the N Locust Grove and E Ustick Road intersection in Meridian. An 18-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in the crash.

A blue 2007 Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle, ridden by an 18-year-old male from Meridian, was driving northbound on Locust Grove.

A white 2020 Hino 195 box truck, driven by a 34-year-old male from Caldwell, was turning left from the southbound lanes of Locust Grove onto Ustick.

The vehicles collided in the intersection. The young motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet but passed away at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the box truck was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

The accident is still being investigated, and Idaho 511 shows a traffic camera at the intersection that could prove helpful.

As the weather warms up, there will be more motorcycles on Idaho roads. Drivers are encouraged to take extra care to watch for the smaller and harder-to-see bikes. Motorcyclists should also take care to obey riding laws, ISP recently arrested a rider going 115 MPH while weaving dangerously through slower traffic.

In 2024, at least 23 accidents were reported by the ISP involving motorcycles, 18 people were killed in the accidents, and 16 were injured.
