New Report Shows Spike in Idaho Driving DUI Alcohol and Drug Cases Over the Last Year

A new report from the Idaho State Police compiles a year’s worth of data to show the latest statistics on DUI-related accidents and driving offenses in 2025. ISP Forensic Services received more DUI toxicology cases in 2025 than in any other year in the last decade.

The report breaks down adult and juvenile cases of DUI, including alcohol, inhalant, or drug level findings in blood and urine toxicology tests.

Idaho Hits Its Highest Level of DUI Cases in the Last Decade

The Idaho State Police released two reports on their website. One of the reports details DUI arrests in the Treasure Valley during ten specific emphasis operations in the last year. The report shows that the team facilitated 325 DUI arrests since the formation of the Treasure Valley DUI Task Force (TVDUITF) last year. In the Treasure Valley alone, there has been a 27 percent increase in DUI driving over the last five years and a 46 percent increase in impaired driving fatalities. The TVDUITF will conduct a Halloween DUI operation through the holiday weekend to deter impaired driving.

Across the state, Idaho has seen an increase in DUI cases. The Treasure Valley Task Force reported 325 DUI arrests in their area. Idaho State Police Forensic Services (ISPFS) reported 3,419 toxicology cases over the last year, which is the highest number in the last decade and a 12 percent increase since 2024.

ISPFS also reported that the majority of DUI alcohol cases, where tests were also done for drugs, found alcohol and at least one other drug present. 90 percent of those cases found alcohol and drugs in the blood or urine of the subject. The most common drugs found in toxicology casework were Cannabinoids, Amphetamine/Methamphetamine, and Fentanyl/Norfentanyl.
