Truck Loses Tire in Idaho and Hits Motorcyclist From Oregon
A female motorcyclist from Oregon was riding through Idaho on Wednesday when she was struck by an errant tire from an Idaho truck.
Idaho State Police are investigating the accident.
Motorcyclist From Oregon Hit and Injured by a Tire on Idaho Highway
ISP report that on July 17th, around 3:37 PM, they responded to an accident in Power County on westbound I86 near milepost 57.
A 70-year-old female, from Ashland, Oregon was riding a 2023 Harley Davidson Trike eastbound on I86. A white 2015 Ram 1500 driven by a 23-year-old male, from American Falls, Idaho was traveling westbound when it lost its rear wheel. The tire went into the eastbound lanes striking the Harley Davidson. The rider of the Harley Davidson was wearing a helmet.
The woman was injured and transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
ISP Respond to 2 More Fatal Accidents on Idaho Roads This Week
ISP have reported 2 fatal accidents on Idaho roads, one on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. Both were single-vehicle accidents where the drivers of the vehicles were killed.
Fatal accident on Deer Creek Road:
Just before 7:14 p.m. on July 16th 2024, Idaho State Police (ISP) troopers responded to a single vehicle crash 13 miles west of Whitebird Grade on Deer Creek Rd. During the investigation it was determined that a Ford F250 pick-up truck was traveling eastbound on a compact dirt road where the vehicle lost control, struck a ditch before rolling once. The 42-year-old male driver of Grangeville, Idaho succumbed to his injuries on scene. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. No other vehicles or individuals were involved. The roadway was not closed for any amount of time. Next of kin has been notified.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Fatal accident on US12 in Idaho County:
At approximately 10:35 a.m., a 65-year-old male from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada was travelling westbound on US12 on a Triumph motorcycle. The rider lost control, ran off the roadway, and was thrown from his motorcycle. The motorcycle and rider came to rest just off the roadway. Bystanders and other motorists made resuscitation attempts for approximately 75 minutes, but the rider was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. The rider was wearing a helmet. Next of Kin has been notified.
Both fatal accidents are being investigated by the Idaho State Police.
