How Bad is the Drug Problem in Idaho

In 2023 and 2024 Idaho law enforcement intervened in a large number of drug-related crimes. It now seems that many of them were related. In the Spring of 2023, undercover investigations revealed a drug trafficking ring in the Magic Valley. Multiple people were arrested during the sting operations including Jamie Lee Coltrin, Tina Jane Morris, Daniel Ross Coltrin, and Jenika Johnson who were all sentenced to time in jail followed by supervised release.

In the Summer of 2023, police arrested Brandon Aaron Dana as a co-conspirator in the drug ring for the distribution of more than 7,000 fentanyl pills in the Magic Valley. Dana was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his crimes.
