I’m often surprised by the things I don’t notice. I recently commented on a new couch at my friend's house, and they informed me that they had the couch for over a month. I’d been there a dozen times and never noticed.

So I shouldn’t be surprised that there has been a secret hiding in the waters of Dierkes Lake, since we go there a few times every month to kayak, fish, or walk the loop. I also shouldn’t be surprised that there are things hidden in Dierkes, because Dierkes is gross and full of secrets.

Local Pictures Appear to Show a Giant Skull Discovered in Dierkes Lake

We were at the lake recently, fishing by the rusted lifeguard stand, when I noticed something in the water right by my feet. It wasn’t a monster fish or a hidden treasure, but something that looked like a giant skull. My wife pointed out that we might have never seen it before because the water is always green and cloudy, and it has been uncommonly clear this summer.

Check out the pictures and let me know what you think, or if you have ever noticed it before.

I’ll admit that there is a chance this isn’t a giant skull; it's probably more likely it isn’t than that it is, but why does it look like that? Was it made intentionally out of concrete to look like a skull, or is it a naturally formed rock?

If it’s a concrete skull, then who made it, and if it’s a naturally occurring rock formation, does that make it even more spooky?

This video is probably the best at showing the variety of items for scuba divers to find. The snowman makes an appearance 2 minutes into this video.

You can see the hula hoop around 2:30 in this video.

You get a good look at the big metal table, the white buoy in Dierkes is attached to it, in this video.

Since the area where the lake is now used to be an orchard, there are also still remnants of trees along the bottom. That’s probably what I keep losing my fishing hooks on.
