A car accident in northern Idaho involving 3 vehicles turned into a fiery crash and ended with with the death of a driver, a seriously injured juvenile, and an elderly woman taken to the hospital.

The tragic accident happened just before noon on April 14th in Boundary County on US95 at mile marker 495.

The accident involved three vehicles, two of which caught fire after colliding head-on.

Idaho Driver Killed in Fiery Crash with Washington Driver

Idaho State Police are investigating the accident and shared the following report regarding the accident:

  • A blue Honda Odyssey van, driven by a 33-year-old male of Spokane, WA, was traveling southbound on US95.
  • A blue Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, driven by a 50-year-old male of Naples, ID, with a juvenile passenger, were traveling southbound on the highway in front of the Honda Odyssey.
  • The Honda Odyssey rear ended the Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup, pushing the vehicle into a northbound Honda Ridgeline, driven by a 79-year-old male of Coeur d’Alene, ID, along with a passenger, a 72-year-old female of Coeur d’Alene, ID.
  • The Honda Ridgeline and the Chevrolet pickup both started on fire after collision.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet was 'pronounced deceased at the scene'. The child was taken by air ambulance (life flight helicopter) to a nearby hospital and the female passenger in the Ridgeline was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital.

The crash happened on US95 in Northern Idaho between Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry.
