For some reason, it seems hard to believe that the 4th of July is just a few days away.

Yet, here we are with fireworks stands open and American freedom ready to ring loud and extra long into the night.

When and Where is the Twin Falls Firework Show in Southern Idaho

You have a lot of options for viewing fireworks in Southern Idaho. We’ll focus on the legal ones.

You can purchase legal fireworks from stands around the city, wait for your friends and neighbors to buy them and watch theirs for free. But the best ones are the ones you can’t buy legally, and your friends and neighbors can’t legally shoot off in their front yard.

To see those, look no further than the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls...well, no further than above the CSI campus.

The fireworks show at CSI is sponsored by the City of Twin Falls and is a free way to see an amazing show. The Twin Falls fireworks show will be on the 4th of July and start around 10:15 PM.

The show lasts around 20 minutes and can be seen from the CSI campus or the surrounding neighborhoods.

What Fireworks Are Legal and Illegal in Twin Falls, Idaho?

You can purchase ‘safe and sane’ fireworks from stands around town and set them off from 8 AM until midnight each day from June 23rd through July 5th.

What does ‘safe and sane’ mean for fireworks? It means you can’t shoot off mortars or anything that flies off the ground and explodes in the air. Exploding fireworks like firecrackers, M-80s, and cherry bombs are also illegal. The City of Twin Falls also deems the following types of fireworks as prohibited:

  • Fireworks that leave the ground of their own accord, or fly when tossed into the air (e.g., skyrockets, bottle rockets, mortar shells, Roman candles)
  • Fireworks designed for ground or near-ground use that travel outside of a fifteen (15) foot diameter circle
  • Fireworks designed for ground or near-ground use that, as a means of propulsion, emit showers or sparks longer than twelve (12) inches
  • Fireworks designed for use from a stationary position that emit sparks, showers, or flaming balls, vertically more than twenty (20) feet; or from which discharged material falls beyond a twenty (20) foot diameter circle

FYI, you can also shoot off fireworks between 8 AM and Midnight from December 26th through January 1st each year.

This year, focus on the show and your friends during the fireworks shows - put the camera away. If you need pictures, you can enjoy these; they are better than anything you’ll take by yourself anyway.
