Scary Halloween decorations, cute Fall decor, piles of candy or leaves - what will you use as the backdrop for your pet photo submission? Your pet can wear a costume or enjoying (or hiding from) the Halloween decorations. We’ll outline some of the rules and best practices for photos, and even show you some examples of previous winners, to help you know what types of pictures do well.

  • For starters, make sure your picture includes a Fall or Halloween theme, or it won’t make the cut.
  • Your picture needs to include your pet (yes, we have received petless pictures before) and can’t include any humans, human body parts, or adorable tiny humans. We know your kids are cute, but this contest is about the pets. We also don't want to see your toes in the pictures. Gross.
  • There’s no limit to what you call a pet (as long as it isn't a human). If you have a dog or a cat, cool. But if you have something different, like a horse, lizard, kangaroo, or exotic fish, we want to see those pets too.
  • Make sure that your picture is of good quality. We don’t want screenshots from your phone, emojis or text added on the photo, or blurry action shots. This is a photo contest.
  • The pet has to belong to you. You can’t take your neighbor’s pet or a cute dog from the animal shelter, snap a picture, and call it yours.

What Are the Dates for the 2025 Valley View Veterinary Clinic Halloween Pet Photo Contest

Photos must be submitted through our station app before the deadline of November 3rd, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

We’ll begin voting on November 4th once the finalists are chosen and posted to the website. The winners will be finalized on November 17th and announced by November 20th.

We’ll have three winners at the end of the contest. Prizes will be awarded differently this year: 1st place will get to choose first which prize they want, then second place, and third place will get the remaining prize.

2024 Valley View Veterinary Clinic Halloween Pet Photo Contest Finalists

We had a lot of great submissions this year for the pet photo contest, and some didn’t make the cut only for failure to follow the submission rules, like including people in the pictures, sending blurry pictures, or adding 'stickers' and graphics to the picture. These are the ones who did it right and deserve your votes.
