Idaho Police Legalize Use Of Automated License Plate Readers
Maybe you're a fan of driving a few miles per hour over the speed limit. Or, perhaps you enjoy executing minor traffic infractions, simply for the thrill of possibly being caught. Look, we don't know you. Not gonna assume.
However, if you're looking to avoid tickets while driving however you'd like here in Idaho, you're going to have a bad time.
Idaho just enacted a new law to implement automated license plate readers.
Yep. That means even if an officer of the law isn't present at your traffic infraction, if it's caught on camera, ya' busted.
Only three states elected to legalize the technology, including Idaho, Arkansas, and Virginia. Here's the rub: Coeur d'Alene has been using stationed auto-readers for license plates for a long time, so it's nothing new to them.
While it may sound just like another excuse to give you a ticket, police have been using the technology to track down criminals (and their vehicles) with much success.
So, next time you're out for a drive, be weary of AI cameras ready to slap a fat ticket on your vehicle at a moment's notice.
