Idaho is a remarkable place, and we happen to be known for a few things:

- Potatoes

- That Jewel song about Boise

- Aaron Paul

But is Idaho known as a good place for foodies?

"Boise's making a play to become the Portland of Idaho"

Thrillist put together a list of every U.S. state, ranked by how good their food scene is...according to the author. So this isn't a national survey, or a statistical endeavor. It's more of a "this is the general vibe and we're going with it" type of thing.

Either way, Idaho did not do well at all.

Let's start at the top of the list. Texas was ranked #1 for their food scene, followed by California, New York, and Louisiana.

Idaho was ranked 41st out of 50 states for our food scene.

Thrillist was pretty brutal with their short review of The Gem State:

Boise’s making a play to become the Portland of Idaho, which means tons of great food, from high-end farm-to-table spots to great burgers, pizza, and some of the most innovative chicken wings we’ve ever seen. So potato jokes be damned. The rest of the state… um. Shit. Something something potato joke.

What do you think? Is the food scene here in Idaho really that abysmal? Or is this author strictly ranking Idaho low for shock value?

We honestly think the food is pretty damn good here. Except when one of our favorite food trucks in the entire state announces its shutting down.

This is why we can't have nice things.
