Inflation! Inflation! Inflation!

We're all feeling the effects of inflation. It doesn't matter where you live. We are all doing what we can to save money where we can. Are you cutting out fast food? Are you eating at home more? Have you decided to cut some of those subscriptions you're not using? When it comes to fast food, there's one place raising prices faster than anyone else, and there's a good chance you're eating there.

McDonald's Price Hikes Hit Idaho

Fast food has always been a reliable option for an inexpensive meal, but it is not as budget-friendly as it used to be. Mcdonald's a go-to for so many people has become the leader in price hikes among fast-food chains with menu items increasing as much as 215% since 2019.

McDonald's price increases are outpacing inflation and competitors like Taco Bell, Burger King, and Chick-fil-A. The price of a McDonald’s Cheeseburger has skyrocketed from $1 to $3.15, a staggering 215% hike. Other popular items, like the McDonald's sandwich, jumped 201.6%, rising to $3.89 from $1.29. For example, compared to Taco Bell, which had an average increase of 57.4% on some menu items, McDonald's is outpacing the market.

What Should You Do Instead?

Here's what you do: support your local establishments. A cheeseburger at Burger Belly is $5.25, and you already know you'll get better ingredients right off the bat. Medium French Fry at McDonalds is $4.19, and at Burger Belly, it is $3.45. I'm only using Burger Belly as an example because my wife and I go there. It's close to home and work; we love supporting local businesses. We have plenty of great local "Fast food" places in the Treasure Valley. Support them because they're doing everything possible to keep food costs down for you, the neighbor, the friend, and the customer.
