Idaho State Police (ISP) reported two serious calls on Monday, February 26th.

Vehicle Crashes Into Building in Fatal Crash in Wendell

ISP responded to a call on West Main Street in Wendell near North Wallace Street at 5:10 PM.

A 51-year-old male from Jerome, with one passenger, was driving eastbound on West Main Street in a 2023 Ford bucket truck towing a trailer when the driver suffered a medical emergency. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the front of a building, where it came to rest.

The crash did not result in the seat-belted passenger needing to be transported for medical attention. The driver was also wearing a seatbelt but succumbed to injuries at the scene. Gooding County EMS and Gooding County Sheriff’s Office assisted ISP in clearing West Main Street and Wallace Street which were blocked for approximately 1.5 hours.

7-Car Pileup In Madison County Blocks SH33 for 3 Hours

At about 2:30 PM, ISP responded to a multi-vehicle collision. The crash involving 7 vehicles occurred on eastbound Sh-33 at milepost 116, near Newdale.

The vehicles involved were: a 1997 Ford F350 driven by a 41-year-old female from Jackson, a 2015 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 42-year-old female from Tetonia, a 1999 Ford F150 driven by a 52-year-old male from Rexburg, a 2022 Ford Transit Van driven by a 65-ear-old male from Rigby, a 2022 Volvo tractor pulling a single trailer driven by a 66-year-old male from Pocatello, a 1957 Ford F350 driven by a 54-year-old male from Ririe, and a 2015 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 26-year-old male from Driggs.

Of all the persons involved, only the driver of the 2022 Ford Transit Van was transported to a local hospital. It took emergency responders and other agencies 3.5 hours to clear the scene and open the road to regular traffic flow.
