Man Arrested for Firing 41 Rounds at Passing Cars on I-90 in North Idaho

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho – A 23-year-old Idaho man was arrested on December 9, 2024, after firing approximately 41 rounds at passing vehicles on Interstate 90 near milepost 0. Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Idaho State Police, along with Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputies and Post Falls Police Officers, responded to the scene at approximately 7:54 p.m. Witnesses had reported seeing a Ford pickup truck in the median and a man shooting what was initially believed to be a rifle at vehicles on the interstate.

Immediate Response

Upon arrival, authorities shut down I-90 in both directions to ensure public safety. Verbal commands were given to the man, and he was taken into custody without further incident. Following an investigation, it was confirmed that the man had fired a total of 41 rounds during the ordeal.

The man has been booked into the Kootenai County Jail and is facing several charges, including:

  • Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm (Felony)
  • DUI 1st Offense
  • Exhibition or Use of a Deadly Weapon
  • Disturbing the Peace
