Idahoans Are Lazy and Don’t Want to Work Hard
When most people think of Idaho and the type of workers they have, most think of farmers, factory workers, and those who work long hours and do plenty of work with their hands. Farmers and factory workers are not known to be lazy workers and are typically some of the hardest workers in the country. Idahoans are proud people and take pride in their work, but when it comes to being hard workers, how does Idaho compare to other states in the country? Is Idaho a hard-working state or perhaps is the state on the lazier side?
The Hardest Working States in the Country
When it comes to hard-working states, most think of the middle part of the country where the farmers, truck drivers, and factory workers live. Despite what many think, that doesn't mean those are the hardest-working states. WalletHub recently released a list ranking the hardest working states in the country and used categories to do so, such as direct work factors and indirect work factors. Using these criteria, it was determined that North Dakota is the hardest-working state, with Alaska being the second hardest-working, and Nebraska rounding out the top three. The laziest working state in the country, according to the list, is West Virginia, with New York surprisingly being the second laziest, and Michigan rounding out the bottom three.
Is Idaho a Hard Working State or a Lazy State?
While Idaho is commonly thought of as a hard-working state, according to the list, they don't rank as high as most would think. Idaho is actually on the bottom half and would be considered one of the lazier states. The Gem State comes in at 27 making for a disappointing ranking. Idaho is 30 in direct work factors, but 6 in indirect work factors. While Idahoans may not like this spot, one thing they can take pride in is that Idaho comes in as the state with the fourth most annual volunteer hours per resident. Despite not being dubbed as hard-working as the Gem State would like, at least residents are willing to give their time and help others.
Many who live in Idaho will disagree with the rankings, but the best thing to do is give the list a reason to change where Idaho falls for next year. Continue to work hard, and perhaps work a little harder, and Idaho could be in the top half of the country next year. To see the full list, make sure to click the link in the second paragraph above.
