The greeting card industry has figured out ways to make money off of birthdays, forgetting birthdays, graduations, funerals . . . so why wouldn't they squeeze some cash out of unemployment too?
According to Business Insider Hallmark just rolled out a brand new line of "Sorry You Lost Your Job" sympathy cards. They're for sale in stores and online for the usual $3.50-or-so per card.
Some of them take a funny tone, like "Don't think of it as losing your job. Think of it as a time-out between stupid bosses." And some are more serious, like "I don't know why bad things happen to good people . . . [but] you will get through this."
And apparently the cards are already selling pretty well.
