JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)-All flags in the city of Jerome are to be flown at half-staff today and tomorrow for a police officer who recently passed away unexpectedly.

Mayor David Davis ordered all U.S. and state flags to fly half-staff Friday and Saturday for Sergeant Troy "T.J." Rasmussen who died September 26, while away from home. According to the city, Rasmussen worked for the city for 26 years and was high respected as a police officer.

I’d like to express my sincerest condolences to the Rasmussen family,” Mayor Davis said in a prepared statement. “Sergeant Rasmussen leaves behind a legacy of service and loyalty to his country, state, and the City of Jerome. We wish to honor him by flying our flags at half-staff on Friday October 4th and Saturday, October 5th

There is a go fund me page set up for Sergeant Rasmussen's wife and family for the costs of the unexpected loss. They say he dedicated his entire life to caring for his family, community and country.
