Magic Valley Remembers 20+ Year Jerome Police Officer
A few days ago, a retired Jerome Police officer passed away unexpectedly. Sergeant TJ Rasmussen served the community for over 20 years and now the family is asking for some help in return.
There is a go fund me page set up for Sergeant Rasmussen's wife and family for the costs of the unexpected loss. They say he dedicated his entire life to caring for his family, community and country. Rasmussen was not only a police officer but he served as a sailor, air man and firefighter as well.
Services for Sergeant TJ Rasmussen will be this Saturday, October 5th at 11 a.m.. A viewing will be held an hour prior at 10 a.m. The services will be held at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 1301 North Davis, Jerome.
People from all over the Magic Valley are reaching out to the Jerome Police Department on social media offering their condolences and sharing memories. I can imagine that 20 plus years on the force, he probably had some amazing memories with some amazing people.
They are hoping to reach a goal of $10,000 for the funerals and memorials. As of Wednesday, October 2nd it appears they have reached a little over $2,000 of it. The family said that his passing was completely out of nowhere. It is always tragic to lose a member and fighter for the community.
The Jerome Police Department has stories you can read from people who have worked with him and those who interacted with him. You can read more at their Facebook page.
